The 31st General Conference of the MCTA started at 9:30 am on the 29th November, 2014. Prof. R. C. Laloo, Dy. Chief Minister, Government of Meghalay, i/c Education was the Chief Guest, while Dr. L. Cajee, Controller of Examination, NEHU graced the occasion as Guest of Honour. The Guest of Honour, call for re-dedication of the teachers in colleges as the new semester system is set for implementation on the next academic year. While the Chief Guest promised that he’ll do the best he can for the overall welfare of the teachers in the State as a whole. The MCTA website was also launched on the same day by the Chief Guest. In the Delegates session, the General Secretary Report and Treasurer’s Report were presented which was passed by the house. In the post lunch session, several amendments to the constitution of the MCTA was proposed and passed by the house. The amendments includes the new clause which will cater to the need of all teachers in the state and not only the UGC scale teachers. Another notable amendment is the number of office bearers in which two post – Asst. General Secretary and Organising Secretary – were dropped and 6 (six) new Joint Secretaries were inducted. This will lead to a more efficient conduct of the Association affairs. At the conclusion, election to the new Executive Committee was held in which most of the old office bearers are retained.
