MCTA actively participate at the "Rally and March to Parliament" held recently at Jantar Mantar New Delhi

Members of the Meghalaya College Teachers Association (MCTA) participated in the All India Federation of University and College Teachers Organisation (AIFUCTO) "Rally and March to Parliament" held at New Delhi on July 24. MCTA was represented by its president, general secretary and members from different units of the State. The president of MCTA also address the rally on the occasion.

The main demands of the AIFUCTO includes the following:
- Publication and implementation of 7th UGC pay revision recommendations after consultation with the AIFUCTO and other teachers’ body.
- 100% financial assistance for uniform and simultaneous implementation of 7th pay scales.
- Regularisation of temporary/contractual teachers; Introduction of Pay Scales and Service conditions for Ad-hoc/ Part-time/ Guest/ Block – grant teachers.
- Scrapping of API and extension of dates of RC/ OC up to December, 2016.
- New pension scheme to be withdrawn and implementation of old pension scheme for all teachers across the country.
- Abolition of anomalies in the 6th Pay scale.
- No budget cut on education and allocation of 6% of GDP on education.
- Filling up all vacant posts on permanent basis.
- Strengthen UGC and AICTE. Immediate withdrawal of
- the proposal to set up HEFA, HEERA.
- grant of graded autonomy of University and college.
- compulsory NET/ SLET/ BET for Ph.D. registration.
- Regular interaction with AIFUCTO/ FEDCUTA while framing policy documents of education.
- Stop commercialization, corporatization and centralization of education.

AIFUCTO National Executive Committee met on 24th July, 2017 in evening at GPF, in Delhi and expressed satisfaction over the historical Rally & Parliament March. NEC noted the massive presence and solidarity of thousands of teachers from almost all states across the country. NEC of AIFUCTO criticised the anti teacher & anti education attitude of the Central Government. NEC unanimously decided to continue and accelerate the agitation in future. Following are the decisions taken by NEC:
- University & College teachers of the country shall observe "Black Day" on 22nd August,2017 and they will sit on Dharna/take out procession in every state capital against the apathetic attitude of the government and also in favour of our demands.
- On 5th September, 2017 i.e "Teachers Day", thousands of teachers of of the country will assemble in Delhi for Court Arrest.
- After NEC secretariat of AIFUCTO discussed in details on the different proposals for statutory conference of AIFUCTO to be held in the end of this year and finalised the proposal given by Savitriwai Fule Pune University & College Teachers' Organisation (SPPUCTO).The venue of the Statutory Conference will be at Shridih ( Maharashtra).
- NEC decided that in the mean time if any notification would come regarding 7th pay scale,a meeting of AIFUCTO office bearers would be called immediately to analysise the notification and also to take appropriate decisions for future.
NEC expressed gratitude for the full solidarity and cooperation extended by FEDCUTA and AIFRUCTO to our movements.
AIFUCTO also extended heartfelt thanks to different political parties and trade unions for supporting AIFUCTO agitational programmes.
