Staff of deficit schools and colleges across Meghalaya on Monday, 4th May 2026, organised a coordinated statewide Poster Campaign in various campuses and public locations to register their strong concern over the continuing retirement uncertainty faced by deficit educational employees. Despite adverse weather conditions in several parts of the State, the campaign witnessed active participation from both teaching and non-teaching staff.
Through placards and issue-based posters, stakeholders reiterated their demand for implementation of the regular NPS as notified in 2023 for employees appointed on or after 1st April 2010, and implementation of the mutually agreed Draft Pension Fund Scheme, 2023 under the Centralised Provident Fund framework for employees appointed prior to 1st April 2010. The campaign also collectively called for withdrawal of the Meghalaya Non-Government Schools and Colleges Employees Centralised Provident Fund Scheme, 2026.
The participating staff stated that the campaign was a peaceful but firm statewide appeal for retirement justice, financial security for retirees, and a lawful resolution of the long-pending pension matter.
