| Inaugural Function |
The 36th Biennial Conference of the Meghalaya College Teachers’ Association (MCTA) was held on 25 September 2026 at Synod College, Shillong. The Biennial General Conference was attended by delegates and members from affiliated college units of the Association from across the state. The inaugural session was graced by the Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Shri Sanbor Shullai, as the Chief Guest, and the Hon’ble MLA, Shri Brightstarwell Marbaniang, as the Guest of Honour.
In his Presidential Address, Dr. Shiv K. Pradhan called upon all stakeholders to invest in education, teachers, and students, emphasising that such investments are essential for the future development of Meghalaya. Addressing the gathering, Hon’ble MLA Shri Brightstarwell Marbaniang stressed the importance of unity among teachers and urged them to continue working collectively for the cause and welfare of the teaching community.
The Hon’ble Cabinet Minister, Shri Sanbor Shullai, encouraged the MCTA to raise its grievances and assured the Association that he would take up their concerns with the State Government and, where necessary, with the Union Government.
The Conference was attended by more than 200 delegates representing various units of the Association. Following the inaugural session, the delegates proceeded with the business session, during which various matters concerning the Association and its members were discussed.
As part of the Biennial General Conference, elections were also conducted for the new office bearers and Executive Committee members of the Association.The following office bearers and EC members were duly elected:
